Slide Into the DirtFish Difference.

There’s a reason drivers from Washington and beyond come to our rally track driving school.

Every class is a mix of hands-on learning, expert guidance, and pure motorsport energy. From the moment you step up to the course, you’ll understand what makes this place more than just any old driving school or track day event

The DirtFish difference is a rally experience designed to test your control, sharpen your reactions, and immerse you in the challenges that make rallying so demanding and fun.

Not Your Average Driving Lesson Plan.

You’ll find open courses, tight corners, and terrain that keeps you engaged, excited, immersed, and on your toes.

By the end of the lesson, you’ll be more confident and feel comfortable behind the wheel as you adjust on the fly amidst changing weather and road conditions.

Every instructor here has had some serious time on the track or with a team.

When they talk, it’s to help you be better. You’ll spend most of the day in motion, learning how the car behaves and how to stay ahead of it. And by the end of the class, you’ll be more familiar with the kind of control that sticks.

Cars Built for Adrenaline, and Grounded in Skill.

Rallying cars can be production vehicles that are road-legal or specially built for competition, especially those suited for specific terrains or extreme distance. Different types of vehicles, including trucks, are used in various events, but certain events may restrict larger vehicles like vans for safety and performance reasons.

At Dirtfish, there’s nothing better than being behind the wheel of a rally-ready Subaru. Every Dirtfish experience is designed to teach, spark ideas, and sharpen skills. So, when you walk away, you leave with an experience you won’t get in just any driving school.

And that’s the real takeaway.

What is Rally?

Two of the best-known forms of rally competition are stage rally and rallycross. Stage rally is the format most people associate with traditional rally racing, where drivers compete against the clock on closed special stages made up of gravel, dirt, snow, ice, or pavement. Rallycross is a shorter-format discipline focused on loose-surface driving and car control, and in SCCA RallyCross, drivers compete one at a time on temporary dirt or grass courses marked by cones.

If you are researching how to get into rally racing, understanding the difference between stage rally and rallycross is a great place to start. Stage rally often represents the deeper path into organized rally competition, while rallycross can be one of the most accessible ways to begin learning performance driving on loose surfaces. At DirtFish Rally School, drivers can build core rally driving skills like braking, weight transfer, throttle control, vision, and sliding the car with confidence, all of which can support future goals in rally driving, rallycross, and performance driving. SCCA describes RallyCross as an approachable entry point that generally requires a safe car and basic safety gear, which is one reason it is often seen as a practical first step for new drivers.

Whether your goal is to learn rally driving, sharpen car control on gravel, or prepare for future competition, strong fundamentals matter. A professional rally driving school can help drivers develop the confidence, technique, and surface awareness needed to progress. For many enthusiasts, DirtFish is where rally driving starts: not with theory alone, but with real instruction, real loose-surface experience, and a stronger foundation behind the wheel.

What You’ll Experience

At Dirtfish, say goodbye to forms and lengthy onboardings. With us, you get the full rally racing event out of the gate with the members of our team.

Here’s what the day looks like from start to finish:

  1. Arrival and Check-In: Step into the classroom, meet your instructors, and get fitted with the right gear. Before the engines start, we make sure you’re comfortable, briefed, and ready.
  2. Orientation and Safety Review: You’ll then get a quick run-through of car setup, communication, and safety.
  3. First Drive Session: Your first laps happen on the Skidpad, designed for learning the basics of grip and throttle. You’ll start slow, build confidence, and feel how the car behaves.
  4. Skill Drills:The drills cover weight transfer, braking control, and counter-steering. With every drill, you’ll feel the car move differently every time, and you’ll start to anticipate what’s next.
  5. Course Progression: As your technique improves, the pace climbs. Courses get faster, corners get tighter, and your focus sharpens. Every lap builds on the last until muscle memory takes over.
  6. Final Runs:The last runs bring everything together. Get ready to experience more speed, more control, and that perfect drift you’ve been chasing.
